I enjoyed the trip immensely – the fishing was great for those who were experienced fly fishers as well as for me as a novice. There was less pressure on how to cast and present the flies since we were in open water with few obstructions. I was able to concentrate on fishing and not retrieving or replacing flies tangled in overhead branches! We enjoyed beaver and eagle sightings each day and usually had a loon calling to begin and end the day. I hope you will consider joining the 2024 outing – I anticipate it will be a fun and memorable trip. If you have questions regarding the trip and accommodations\, please give me a call!\nMichael J. Smith\n502 338 8780 Cell \nTravel: \n\nApproximately 950 miles one way\nApproximately 14.5 hours nonstop including time for gas and pit stops\nGas at $3.50 per gallon\n\nOuting Details: This is a primitive camping trip. We’ll be using Zups Canoe Outfitters. Fishing will be from canoes using 5 to 8 wt. rods with appropriate smallmouth flies. Might also hook walleye and pike. Level 1 ability is sufficient. Some canoe and camping skill is desirable. No portaging involved unless you choose to venture to some remote site off the main lake. All necessary gear for camping and cooking will be provided by the outfitter as will the food. Bring an air mattress. A “Life Straw” or some other form of individual water filtration device is strongly recommended. Recommend you bring your own life preserver; outfitter’s PFDs are adequate but basic. \nEstimated Cost per person (based on party of 6) \n\nComplete outfitting (5 days x $85/day)                                                             $425.00\nTow to camp site                                                                                                  300.00\n13% sales tax on above                                                                                          94.25\n4% credit card fee (if paying by credit card)                                                         32.77 \nBWCA permits and reservation                                                                             20.00\nMN Fishing License                                                                                               43.00\nEmergency notification device (recommended but not essential)                       TBD\nTravel costs based on two travel days with two overnight hotel stays            $400 – 500\n\nTotal estimated cost (will varying depending on carpooling\, room sharing and number of travel days)   $1\,316 – 1\,416  \nClick here to sign up and pay deposit.
