Boundary Waters Canoe Area

All hail our club motto

“DERBY CITY FLY FISHERS, AN EATING AND DRINKING CLUB WITH A FISHING PROBLEM!”.

Well, I am about to make our addiction worse by announcing a new trip.  Boundary Waters Canoe Area in northern Minnesota, within sight of the Canadian Border, chasing smallmouth and walleye. This is a level 2 trip involving primitive camping and canoeing.

Following a 16-hour drive to Crane Lake, Mn, the group will meet the outfitter and be transported by jet boat from Zups Outfitters.  After being outfitted with necessary gear, it’s on to the drop off point followed by a 2-hour flat water canoe paddle into the “no motor” area to the primitive camp site on an island.

Group will depart Monday June 21and return on Sunday the 28th.  Group must be even number and not exceed 8 people (BWCA permit rules).  If more than 8 sign up, we can request a second permit.

I have tried to anticipate all expenses from the time you leave home to your return.  Current plan does include 2 nights in motels.

Cost per member is approximately $1000.  A nonrefundable deposit of $200.00 is required at registration.

Should cancellation be necessary, deposit would be transferrable only if another member steps into your place.

I have made this trip at least 6 or 7 times and it is addictive! In the picture I hold 2 good reasons to go!!
