3RFF Reunion Cookout & Gathering

We are less than a few weeks away from our first “3RFF Reunion”. As you know this was formally our Annual Three Rivers Fly Fishers Membership Cookout and Gathering, that was held at the Southwest Conservation Club in Ft. Wayne, IN.

There has been a change to the location for the upcoming reunion event. SWCC will not be able to host the cookout and gathering this year for us, so Kerry Shipman has, graciously and generously, offered to host the first reunion event at his property. Kerry has a very nice spacious and open area, with ample room for testing your lawn casting skills with that favorite fly rod if you so desire. He also has a nice sized pond where you can try your luck at bass, bluegill and channel cats. So bring your fly rod and that box full of flies you’ve been tying up and go at it. Hint: dry flies, popper flies and other topwater bugs, along with small streamers and wooly buggers, etc, all seem to get the fish’s attention. Kerry has them well trained so you can enjoy your time on the water. He has requested no jet skis please. 🙂

There will be ample parking on site as well. So, bring your lawn chair and a smile, and plan on a great laid back day of fellowship, comradery and reconnecting with old friends. Hope to see you there. And a big  “shout out” to Kerry for his wonderful hospitality !!

We will be having the usual cookout meal agenda as in the past. Possibly burgers, brats, hotdogs, sausage patties or a mix. Assorted bags of chips, with potato salad and macaroni salad or coleslaw. There’s always an assortment of cookies, and we’ll have soda pop and bottled water. If you wish to bring a dish, a dessert item, or something special to share, by all means feel free to do so, but it’s not required. Either way, we’ll mix it up, we won’t go hungry and we’ll just have a good time. We have not yet set an exact time to eat, so we may just keep the grill fired up, come and go and graze as we please, and just enjoy a relaxing day together. We will put out any last minute details or information as needed as we move forward. In the meantime, mark your calendar and plan on coming out for a good time.

Location:  Kerry Shipman’s house – 7912 Smith Road, Ft. Wayne, IN 46809 – Kerry is located between Lower Huntington Rd and Airport Expressway, close to Ft. Wayne International Airport and the Amazon distribution center.

In closing, I hope everyone has been enjoying the summer, getting out on the water, taking trips, and enjoying time spent with family and friends. Can’t wait to hear some of your stories and see some of your photos. Hope to see you at Kerry’s in August. Thanks folks.
