Fly fishing in and around Louisville Kentucky
Our Fly Tying Classes are open to everyone – you do not have to be a member to attend. Generally we tie one fly, but we tie it twice. An instructor demonstrates, step-by-step, how to tie the fly with accompanying video on a big screen TV so students can see each step.
Tools and materials are provided at no cost, but if you have your own tools feel free to bring them.
Beginners are welcome. There will be experienced tiers available to provide individual help.
We will provide a Zoom meeting for the Wednesday sessions only so you can follow along remotely if you can’t attend in person.

Kristen Sharber is our instructor this month. She will be tying multiple color variations of the Fancy Mop Fly. This pattern is good for Trout, but it is fantastic for Bass and Bluegill. The Fancy Mop is easy to tie, so Kristen will have 2-3 different colors for everyone to try. The materials list below will get you started if you can’t attend the class:
Hook: 2XL Nymph & Streamer (Size 8) or similar
Thread: Red for eyes and collar
Body: Microfiber mop segments (assorted bright colors)
