**CANCELED*** Fly Tying – Cabela’s

January 28 @ 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm

Our Fly-Tying Classes are open to everyone – you do not have to be a member to attend.  Generally, we tie one fly, but we tie it twice.  An instructor demonstrates, step-by-step, how to tie the fly with accompanying video on a big screen TV so students can see each step.

Tools and materials are provided at no cost, but if you have your own tools feel free to bring them.

The January 28/29 Fly Tying Class (28 at L’ville BassPro, 29 at C’ville) will introduce what I think might be “The Dynamic Duo”. A Yellow Humpy as a strike indicator over a CK Nymph. I am anxious to try this setup on the Cumberland. Created in 1940 by Jack Horner in California, the Humpy was called the “Horner Deer Hair” or the “Goofus Bug” but renamed “The Humpy” in the Jackson Hole area. It is mostly deer and elk hair. The “CK Nymph” was created in 1961 by Chuck Kraft because “I was looking for a fly that would look like a lot of different kinds of nymphs.” The CK Nymph is that fly.

Beginners are welcome.  There will be experienced tiers available to provide individual help.
