Dates: May 16 – 19, 2019
Location: Greensburg, KY
The club has reseved 4 cabins for the nights of May 16, 17 & 18 which can accomodate up to 12 people.
This is a float trip since bank and wade fishing are extremely limited. We’ll be targeting smallmouth bass, but other species are abundant. Watercraft will be limited to kayaks, canoes and the like as some portaging may be required. Rental kayaks and canoes are available, click here for more info. Personal Floatation Devices (PFDs) are required, so if you’re bringing your own watercraft be sure to bring a PFD. There are several floats available ranging from 2 to 6 hours. We’ll most likely break up into multiple groups, each doing a different float so we are spread out on the river. Groupings and shuttles will be worked out when we know how many fishers we have each day.
There are two types of cabins:
Cabins #1, 2 & 3 – accomodates 2 people each, $45 per person per night (total $135 for three nights), we have three of these cabins, more info here.
Cabin #5 – accomodates up to 6 (bunk beds), $20 per person per night (total $60 for three nights), more info here.
This is a Level 2+ trip as you must be able to handle a canoe, kayak, etc., and fly fish from it. Some short portages will be likely. Since this is a first time trip for the club it will be an exploratory outing. We’re looking for adventuresome, self reliant fly fishers willing to explore new waters and evaluate them for future trips. There won’t be much opportunity for instruction.
Meals: The cabins have limited kitchen facilities (small refrigerators and microwaves) and outdoor grills. The campgrounds are in the heart of Greensburg so there are several eateries nearby. You’ll be on your own for breakfast and lunch. Depending on the desires and willingness of participants we can prepare a shared evening meal, organize an outing to a local restaurant or, explore the culinary offerings of Greensburg individually.
