There are fishing knots and then there is “Jack’s Knot”. Fly fisher extraordinaire and Derby City Fly Fishers member Jack Miller has invented probably the best and simplest terminal knot ever. He has extended his knot tying techniques and has developed line to line knots as well. He has also develop a fantastic level leader concept for indicator fishing that you’ll want to check out
There are three ways to learn the knot. You can check out the Orvis website here at “Jack’s Knots”. There are also You Tube Videos if you google Jack’s Knot. The third and probably best option is attend any of the DCFF meetings or instructional outings and ask around — someone will be there that can show you how to tie it. (Note: You might want to bring some fly line or tippet line with you for option three. Even though we’re avid fly fishers we don’t normally carry fly line with us unless we are fishing or instructing.)
